'Tony Saint James' was an Irish cabaret character I put together in 1989. He was a wannabe singer, ladies' man and entertainer and was not so good at any of those things. However, for about seven years he and his band 'The Las Vegas Sound' took Ireland by storm - sort of. 

 

He appeared on numerous TV shows, headlined 'Midnight At The Olympia' and performed with Bono, The Edge and The Hothouse Flowers at the Edge's sister's wedding. It was enormous fun to do.

 

Tony would perform all the great songs - Amarillo, Sweet Caroline, Wonderful Tonight and Viva Espana in his own inimitable, out of tune, out of time, way.
